CENTRAL PARK......AN EVOLUTION
VISIONARIES

Although the development of Central Park has been largely attributed to landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, its creation emerged out of the culmination of the visions of several other men as well.  The most notable of these include: William Cullen Bryant, Andrew Jackson Downing, Calvert Vaux, Ignaz Anton Pilat, Jacob Wrey Mould, and Samuel Parsons Jr.  Each of these men contributed to the development and maintenance of Central Park in different, yet significant ways.
